Weekly Review – 11/06/2016

November 7, 2016

Weekly Review - Coffee

Happy Monday!  Hopefully, you’re refreshed and rejuvenated by getting an extra hour of sleep.  I wish we would just get rid of Daylight Savings Time, but here we are again.

  • The MacBook Pro is a lie [Article] – I can honestly say, I’m not impressed with the new MBPs.  Hopefully, my current MBP (Late 2013) will hold out long enough until Apple makes some better choices for future models.
  • You’ll Spend 474 days Trying to Find Something to Watch on TV and That’s Okay [Article] – Now, this is just sad…  Also, think about how much time you’ve watched TV, Netflix, Amazon Prime, or YouTube.  Now, think of how you could have used that time instead.  Yup, another reason for my Wantrepreneur to Entrepreneur series…
  • Why You Should Wait Until Your Coffee Is Completely Finished Before Pouring a Cup [Article] – This is true!  When we first started using our pourover in the RV (Living Mile by Mile), I thought it would be nice to get a cup of coffee right away instead of brewing the whole pot.  Wow, was that some strong coffee!  Wait the extra few minutes and your coffee will be delicious.
  • Worldwide, mobile overtakes desktop Internet usage for the first time, says StatCounter [Article] – This is huge!  We may have finally reached the tipping point where the mobile experience is truly more important than the desktop experience.  This is also where generations start to get frustrated with where technology is going and where expectations will be broken.
  • The Hidden Tip Gems in DiResta Videos [Article] – One of my favorite YouTubers, Jimmy Diresta.  Take a look at some of these simple solutions to enable repeatable results.

Wantrepreneur to Entrepreneur – Update #2

October 1, 2016

Wantrepreneur to Entrepreneur

Intro

If you’re reading this update and have no clue what this post is about, please read this post first – Wantrepreneur to Entrepreneur.  If you know what’s going on, please continue!

Updates

I’ll keep this brief and to the point!

  • Since my original post, about 24 days ago, I’ve made a little progress.  Not enough progress to be proud but some progress.
  • The biggest leap that I took is I decided to convert my current document/draft from Adobe InDesign to Google Slides.  Mainly, it will force me to keep things simple but also in a file format where I don’t need expensive paid software.
  • I also started migrating content (copy and paste) from the InDesign document into the new Google Slides format.  This has proven to be a bit time consuming because I’m changing up the content as I go along but also need to take new screenshots along the way since Facebook has changed a bit since my last draft.

Next Steps

  • Finish the current draft
  • Proof it. Have some other folks proof it
  • Ship it!

Wantrepreneur to Entrepreneur

Intro

If you’re reading this update and have no clue what this post is about, please read this post first – Wantrepreneur to Entrepreneur.  If you know what’s going on, please continue!

Updates

I’ll keep this brief and to the point!

  • Since my original post, about 10 days ago, I’ve done nothing.  I haven’t even opened up my last draft of the information product
  • I’ve thought a lot about it but haven’t taken action
  • Time to take action!

Next Steps

  • Review old draft
  • Scap and create a new outline or keep what I currently have
  • Create new outline by the end of the week
  • Start the new draft next week.

Wantrepreneur to Entrepreneur

August 27, 2016

Wantrepreneur to Entrepreneur

A while back, I wrote a blog post about being a wantrepreneur (you can read it here) and sadly, that’s still true. As I turn 32 next month, I’ve got the bug to change this around and to share it with… the internet. By posting to everyone out in the world, I’m hoping that this will hold me a bit more accountable and will “force” me to finish. The irony, I bet 5 people will read this!

The Goal

Finish, publish and sell an information product that I’ve been “working on” for the past 5 years or so. I’ve come close to finishing it and have even shared it with some folks but it’s outdated. Once complete, it’s going to be up for sale and hopefully, I’ll sell at least one copy.

The Why

Like I said, I’ve been working on this for about 5 years and it’s one of those projects that bothers me because I’ve been so close to completing it but haven’t. Consider it a loose end that’s holding me back from working on other projects.

What to Expect

Over the next month, I’m going to work on, finish, and sell my information product. Yes, I’ll be a bit cryptic until it’s ready for public consumption, but I think you can figure it out 😉 However, I may share some details along the way because I plan on blogging about it through the month of September as I make progress or if I don’t make progress. At a minimum, I’m planning on a weekly post to share the current status.
