Weekly Review – What did you read last week? 7/10

  • Apple granted a trademark for the word 280 [Article] – I could get on my soapbox about this one but really!? Is it possible to trademark any word in the dictionary?  There has to be a limitation somewhere…
  • Facebook Launches Skype-Powered Video Calling [Article] – To be perfectly honest, I wish they would have come out with an iPad app before enabling this feature.  Then again, maybe I don’t have enough options to chat with people face-to-face: Facetime, Skype (traditional), iChat, etc…
  • Google+ to require that profiles be visible to all, will boot private profiles after July 31st [Article] – So much for having a private profile.  Then again, if you’re going to be on a social network you might as well treat everything as being public. Reminds me of what Eric Schmidt said:

“If you have something that you don’t want anyone to know maybe you shouldn’t be doing it in the first place”

  • This Accessory Turns Your iPad 2 Into MacBook Air [Video] – I’m definitely rethinking my purchase of the Apple bluetooth keyboard.  Then again, it works with my iPhone and MBP.  This is still freakin’ cool and it’s only $49!
  • How to Securely Tie Anything to Your Car [Video] – This will come in handy next week while helping a friend move.  I only wish that I knew about it when I was moving to and from college!
