Weekly Review - Coffee

Happy Holidays!  Guess what, it was almost -20 degrees Fahrenheit this morning here in Minnesota. Yeah, still inside sipping on some coffee.

  • Cut Any Expense You Want But Don’t Dare Take the Coffee Away! [Article] – I could have saved so much money if any of my employers offer free coffee…  Do any of your employers offer free coffee?

Weekly Review - Coffee

Time to get back to the weekly grind and get things done.  Top off that coffee, get your first cup, or get some kind of go-juice.  It’s time to get busy.  If you’re not ready, here’s a few links for a distraction!

  • Netflix feels like Blockbuster these days [Article] – I too feel this pain… So much wasted time sifting through the noise to find something decent to watch.
  • New Facebook feature lets you find nearby Wi-Fi [Article] – Living on the road does have it’s challenges.  One of those challenges is wi-fi.  I don’t know if I would trust this as a source for wi-fi, but I’ll give it a shot next time I’m looking.
  • Caffeine consumption: The difference between cold brew, espresso, and coffee [Article] – The more you know…
  • Comment: Given the ultra-low repairability of the new MacBook Pro, I’m getting AppleCare this time [Article] – In my opinion, it’s always worth getting AppleCare on any Apple laptop.  Now, on iPhones too (screens and batteries).
  • The crop sensor camera is mightier than the teleconverter — here’s why [Video] – Just remember, invest in your glass first and then your body.

Weekly Review - Coffee

Happy Monday!  Hopefully, you’re refreshed and rejuvenated by getting an extra hour of sleep.  I wish we would just get rid of Daylight Savings Time, but here we are again.

  • The MacBook Pro is a lie [Article] – I can honestly say, I’m not impressed with the new MBPs.  Hopefully, my current MBP (Late 2013) will hold out long enough until Apple makes some better choices for future models.
  • You’ll Spend 474 days Trying to Find Something to Watch on TV and That’s Okay [Article] – Now, this is just sad…  Also, think about how much time you’ve watched TV, Netflix, Amazon Prime, or YouTube.  Now, think of how you could have used that time instead.  Yup, another reason for my Wantrepreneur to Entrepreneur series…
  • Why You Should Wait Until Your Coffee Is Completely Finished Before Pouring a Cup [Article] – This is true!  When we first started using our pourover in the RV (Living Mile by Mile), I thought it would be nice to get a cup of coffee right away instead of brewing the whole pot.  Wow, was that some strong coffee!  Wait the extra few minutes and your coffee will be delicious.
  • Worldwide, mobile overtakes desktop Internet usage for the first time, says StatCounter [Article] – This is huge!  We may have finally reached the tipping point where the mobile experience is truly more important than the desktop experience.  This is also where generations start to get frustrated with where technology is going and where expectations will be broken.
  • The Hidden Tip Gems in DiResta Videos [Article] – One of my favorite YouTubers, Jimmy Diresta.  Take a look at some of these simple solutions to enable repeatable results.

Weekly Review - Coffee

Well… I didn’t get much, or any, feedback on my last weekly review.  Regardless, I’m still going to publish these every Sunday to the best of my ability and availability.  The reason, it’s a great way for me to take a look at all of the links I saved from the previous week.  Otherwise, I would never take a look at them again.  Also, if I think they are share-worthy, maybe someone else (you) will find interest in them.

  • Using the Power of ‘Batching’ to Boost Your Daily Productivity [Article + Video] – Since reading the 4-Hour Work Week by Tim Ferriss, batching has been part of everyday life for me.  Here’s a quick video by Chris Ducker that gives a great overview and tips!
  • Reduce Constant Back-and-Forth Emails With If-Then Statements [Article] – When you add email to your batching process, here’s an awesome way to be more concise and end some of the back and forth emails.
  • Soylent’s New Creation Is Coffee and Breakfast in a Bottle [Article] – Sounds like a dream come true.  Instant “food” and caffeine.  Does anyone know if you can try before you buy?
  • Why Your Phone Battery Dies When It Still Has Juice [Article] – My current phone and past iPhone was plagued with this issue.  Now I know a little more…  Still annoying though!
  • Start a Project You Have Been Putting Off in Just 5 steps [Article] – Hopefully, one of my side projects will come to fruition, soon.

Weekly Review - Coffee

So.. Supposedly there was some sort of game on the television yesterday?  Ok, I did end up watching the first half.  Call it an obligation due to living in Denver.  In fact, I’m writing this right after half time and I don’t know who won.

  • “I”, “We” and “You” [Article] – Always a good reminder and challenge.  If you do one thing this week, remember and execute Seth’s words of wisdom.
  • How our brains work on caffeine: And alternatives to coffee to try [Article] – Best thing I learned from this article: Cold-brewed coffee produces less caffeine and it also contains less acid that is harmful for your body.  Cold brews are great alternatives to coffee for late-night hot coffee drinkers that normally have trouble sleeping.
  • Some iOS Instagram users can now add multiple accounts, maybe you can too [Article] – Please!  Make this come true for everyone.  It’s just silly that this isn’t a native feature already.  Also, more capabilities on the desktop version would be nice too!
  • This Amazing, 360-Revolving Skiing Video Was Shot With An iPhone [Video] – Super cool video for the first minute and well executed.  However, the concept is very limited…
  • Monitor the Consistency of Your Broadband Speeds with a Raspberry Pi and IFTTT [Article] – Automated public flogging.  Well done.
