First and foremost, this is a brief review. Maybe I’ll write something a bit more in depth for the next major iPhone release.
When I first opened up the iPhone 6 I didn’t quite know what to expect. After all, I never saw one or held one until this day, but I saw quite a few reviews online and I wanted to keep an open mind. And then, it arrived but I didn’t wasn’t home in time to pick it up from the office – Ugh! I had to wait for a whole day to open it up – a day after everyone else that preordered it. Ok, enough with the drama.
Once I opened up the shiny to box, I was pleasantly surprised. It was a bit thinner and definitely larger (surface area) than my old iPhone 5. It felt great in my hand but I immediately struggled for a bit to reach my thumbs to all four corners of the screen. Yes, I know the double tap trick. The larger size is great for productivity and viewing pictures/video but I still wish it was the size of my iPhone 5.
Here are some of the other features that I’m a fan of:
- Camera is rock solid
- The buttons are sleeker
- 128GB of awesomeness!
- A faster processor is always a plus
Since I shared what I liked, I might as well share what I don’t like:
- Protruding camera lens
- Wake/sleep button is on the side. I’m sure I’ll get used to this but it’s still pretty weird
- The silver on the home button doesn’t make sense. It doesn’t match the aesthetics of the phone
Now that I’ve had the device for over a week now, the size is no longer an issue. However, there is one thing that I absolutely hate and that’s the protruding camera lens. For me, this was the main driver to get a case and this was the first time that I considered getting an Otterbox (Commuter) case and so I did. I had the case on for 3 hours and I absolutely hated it. I went back to Amazon and ordered the iPhone 6 version of the same case I had before, a case by Poetic.
Did you get the new iPhone? What are your thoughts?
