This week’s Follow Friday recipient is…
Whoa! It’s been quite some time since I’ve had a Follow Friday and this one is getting published just under the wire! There’s been a lot of news about the new Apple products/lack there of and some other interesting tech news out there. Today I want to talk about the Roku streaming media player.
Last week was the perfect storm for us when it came to streaming technologies. First, the BluRay player that streamed Netflix was not longer connecting to the network, Apple’s WWDC was happening, and I was hopefully going to be able to convince Erin that we needed an Apple TV – Hopefully a new model too.
BUT, Apple didn’t debut a new Apple TV. Also, the current Apple TV doesn’t stream Amazon or Hulu… The next option was a Roku!
After doing a little research, picking up the Roku XS (affiliate link) in the new Richfield Best Buy store, and setting it up in a matter of minutes was when the fun happened… I realized that I should have purchased one of these things long time ago! I purchased the Roku XS which can run on a LAN connection or wireless. So, I can move it to any room of the house in a matter of minutes or even take it somewhere else completely and it will stream the internet content that I’m interested in.
If you’re looking to stream movies or TV shows from Netflix, Amazon, or Hulu+ to your TV then a Roku is the way to go. It’s cheap, super easy to install, and looks pretty sleek sitting next to your TV.
